This experiment is based on Dr. Jason Fung. and his 3 books. So Ive tried fasting for a while now and have done 6.5 days 3 times. My definition of a fast is nothing but liquids mainly water, club soda or sparkling water. It is not a complete fast because I take in around 100 calories a day using electrolyte tables and the like. A few questions about fasting rides (fasted training)

I like to incorporate 3-4 fasting rides a month into my schedule. I normally do them over the weekend before breakfast. Currently I do them outdoors but with the days getting shorter I will probably switch to indoor so that I can utilize the weekends for longer rides. I have a few questions: 1- are fasting rides worth the effort? I’m currently 180cm and 75.3kg. I’d like to get my weight down to 67-70kg (my race weight in high school was 59kg). 2- In terms of effort what should I be aiming for?…

Training fasted, do I test fasted?

Love the podcast and after going through 15-20 episodes I signed up and started using TrainerRoad this week. I train at 5:30am and do so fasted. It’s worked pretty well for me and I’m able to get through the workouts without feeling like I’m going to bonk or fade. But I do know that when I have the opportunity to ride later in the day I feel a lot stronger, with about 15-20 watts more on tap for the same perceived effort. Some Help Understanding Fasted Training Recommendations

So, I am trying to understand different things (mostly things I have heard on the Ask a Cycling Coach Podcast) about fasted training. Here’s what I have heard: You have glycogen stores for about 70-90 minutes of training. “Easy” aerobic efforts largely utilize oxygen and fat metabolism for fuel. Don’t do anaerobic workouts in a fasted state. Don’t do fasted training on workouts longer than 90 minutes. But: a. Early Morning Workouts

Wanted to see what tips the early risers out there have to get you up and straight on the trainer early AM? With my family and other commitments it’s getting to a point where getting up early (5.30) and getting the workout done before work is my best option but whilst I am fully motivated at night, when I wake up I feel so lethargic and find it so difficult to jump straight on the trainer. It’s making it even less appealing now it’s turning colder (train in the garage)
