Incorporating yoga into your training

I took up Yin Yoga, which has really helped with my flexibility and recovery. There’s a few YouTube videos you can try and I’d recommend trying out your local gym to see if they have any Yin classes.

Hi @ Simo429. Not sure where you live, but this site https://zing.events/cat/acro/ almost certainly will have some yoga / acro yoga workshops, weekends and stuff around you - and for beginners. To me sounds more rewarding than watching YouTube… Good luck!

Taking yoga classes can be really helpful. It is a good workout you can do at home. You just need basic training.

I’ve used yasyoga and like it. In particular the “5 minute reset” parts, based on where I feel aches and troubles

I go to class usually once a week, but it’s more for the yoga comradery than the need for guided practice, however, I STRONGLY recommend checking out Yoga with Adrienne. I’ve been practicing yoga since I was a young kid thanks to a family friend who was pretty worldly for a Texas boy in the early 80s. It’s an instrumental part of my life for sure. If you look at me strava you’ll see I practice at least once a day, usually twice, though I don’t always upload the morning sessions.

Adrienne is the most approachable online Yoga community leader I’ve ever seen. Her attitude toward it is best summed up as a more refined “Hey, its just yoga”. There is no nazi pose shaping, she usually accommodates all levels and all body types in her instruction, and she’s super chill. There are no insane poses done for show that no reasonable person can mimic, it’s just good straight forward practice. I’ve started including my 13 year old daughter in my daily practice to help her with anxiety, and some muscle pain (She’s a killer Lacrosse player) and she loves the way Adrienne teaches. For us at least, she seems to have her finger on the pulse of what the practitioner is doing better than anyone, right about the time you start flexing your neck and your face muscles in a transition, she reminds you to relax those very same muscles and focus on breathing, its genuinely like shes watching you practice. Really good stuff, I cant recommend it enough. She does more than just yoga herself, shes a runner and a casual cyclist, so her workouts for post run or post ride are pretty good for exactly the areas we need it, though shes big about yoga being a total body practice (which it is).

Great stretch and incorporates some strength work too, and I can do it just by listening to audio alone now I have done it so many times.

I looked good when I was young too.

I have done a couple of sessions on Apple Fitness+. They were fun. I used to do a lot of yoga, but got out of the habit. Just like Trainerroad sessions consistency is key. Too easy to skip a yoga session.

I was recommended Pliability, former Romwod by a friend. It has been a game changer for me. I have so much more mobility now than three years ago (m, 42y). I can finally do squats and other exercises at the gym with good posture! Also, better posture on the bike…. The mental aspect was the biggest surprise to me. The mental clarity and calmness I feel is what’s really makes me continue with pliability.

I use Apple Fitness for yoga and Strength. Solid instructors. Easy to use on my phone, iPad, or TV.

Same, I have my favorite instructors and the fact that you get at least one new video from them each week adds enough variety into the training
