Multi event day - recovery nutrition

I have 2x 40min crits with an hour separation between them. How should I plan my recovery shake? Full shake after each? 1/2 after each? Just after the first one?

I have a day off after this day.

If by “recovery shake” you mean something like a protein shake or a designated “recovery” powder mix, I would say only after the second race. After the first one, I would start and finish a bottle of carb mix (e.g., SiS GO Energy, GU Roctane, Endure32Gi Race, etc…). Then, I would pop a gel at the start line of the second crit.

During the crits, I would have plain water in my bottles.
