Needs to be an industry standard for power measurement

Sure seems there is a huge disparity how different trainer companies and power meter manufacturers measure and define watts. They all need to come together and come up with a standard for measurement. Then every company can use that standard to fine tune their firmware/equipment. They all boast 1,2,3% accuracy…but accurate to what? All you read about is scenarios where different trainers, power meter’s etc read drastically different values. I understand they take readings from different points in the drive train, some use strain gauges, some use electronics but it would sure make things easier if they were all measuring to the same standard. They touched a bit on this in the podcast about how trainers and power meters were so different in their measurements.
