New to indoor trainer

I’m using a kickr snap and was doing the ebbits workout tonight wich has high power tags. What is the right way to do these? I’m sprinting/ powering to get the power up then when the 5 seconds is over just flapping around waiting for the wheel to catch up. Is this normal? Or am I doing this wrong.

Yes, this is normal. You can reduce this effect by having less resistance on the bike (small ring up front, low gear on the cassette) and consequently higher resistance on the trainer. This will reduce the inertia and allow the trainer to catch up more quickly, but it won’t be instant.
